”Everyone calls himself a friend, but only a fool relies on it: nothing is commoner than the name, nothing rarer than the thing.”
-- Jean de La Fontaine
Last few days of summer. Watched A Walk To Remember; the actual movie twice, and the commentary once. Yes, I know I am watching this movie an inordinate amount of times, but it's a good movie and I don't know when the original owner of the DVD is going to reclaim it.

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful."
-- The Bible
Hmm... watched A Walk to Remember... twice. That is one excellent movie... I've never been on the brink of tears so many times in one movie. Either I'm getting prone to crying (which I highly doubt) or that was one special movie. I think I'll take the latter.

I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than walk alone in the light.
-- Erynn Miller
Ok, this is TODAY'S quote. Why do I bother. I don't even think anybody reads this.
9:19 PM
“One SONG can spark a moment
One FLOWER can wake the dream
One TREE can start a forest
One BIRD can herald spring
One SMILE begins a friendship
One HANDCLASP lifts a soul
One STAR can guide a ship at sea
One WORD can frame the goal
One VOTE can change a nation
One SUNBEAM lights a room
One CANDLE wipes out darkness
One LAUGH will conquer gloom
One STEP must start each journey
One WORD must start a prayer
One HOPE will raise our spirits
One TOUCH can show you care
One VOICE can speak with wisdom
One HEART can know what is true
One LIFE can make a difference.”

Ok, this is yesterday's quote that i forgot/didn't have the opportunity to post yesterday because I was gallavanting about David's neighborhood

"All our young lives we search for someone to love, someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope, all the while wondering if somewhere, somehow there is someone searching for us."
-- The Wonder Years
Why do they put a suicide watch on death row prisoners? Why would you care if a man you're planning to kill anyway, kills himself? Does it spoil the fun?
I also think about the death row prisoner in Texas who, on the day before his execution, managed to take a drug overdose. They rushed him to a hospital, saved his life, then brought him back to prison and killed him.
Apparently, just to anger him.

"The most beautiful discovery that true friends can make is that they can grow separately without growing apart."
-- Elizabeth Foley
If anybody actually read that quote, think about it for a sec. How many friends do you have who you've kept close contact with even when you don't go to the same school or don't see each other at least 2 or 3 times a week... or how many friends do you have who are comepletly different from you in every aspect (or almost every aspect) that you can be friends with for 10 years and watch each other grow sepereately... but not grow apart? Think about it. Ah well, not to be pessimistic or anything.

How apropos, looking back on how many people are leaving TCMS this year. Oh well. Days don't come much more dreary than today. The entire day, the sky was a ugly, depressing gray.

Unjudged, accepted, and trusted to the end."

Ah... just got back from gallavanting about the neighborhood playing Cops and Robbers. Brings back so many memories of the times we used to play the very same game in school during reccess. Only this time, it's 10X better in the pitch black of the night.

“No birth certificate is issued when friendship is born. There is nothing tangible. There is just a feeling that your life is different and that your capacity to love and care has miraculously been enlarged with out any effort on your part. It's like having a tiny apartment and somebody moves in with you. But instead of becoming cramped and crowded, the space expands, and you discover rooms you never knew you had until your friend moved in with you. “

9:57 PM
"Sometimes in life, you find a special friend. Someone who changes your life just by being a part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop. Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship. When you're down and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times. If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete because you need not worry. You have a forever friend, and forever has no end."

Yes, an abnormally long quote. Helped unpack stuff at Denise's place. The movers said they needed to take 2 rounds there and back again from Ajax... how convinient that they charge by the hour. Watched "The Mummy" on the Law's home entertainment system... it's louder than famous players. Ok, mayber that was an overstatement. but still, I could feel the ground shaking beneath me... and you could hear the thing all the way upstairs while we were in the basement with the door closed.

Nothing happened today. Watched some music vids. Makeup, especially in overly large amounts ruins a girls image in my opinion, judging by a few music vids I saw.

Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Spent the afternoon "laboring" at Denise's house. Ok, so it was a bit tedious, but then I got to sit in a luxurious chair for a few hours. Well worth the effort I think. I got sooooooo lazy after that. I didn't want to get out of the chair to go home for dinner.

Dulcinea was over today for 9 hours. How the heck do we find stuff to talk about for 9 hours. Anyhow, tomorrow, I have to mow the lawn, front and back, then paint the garage, then sweep it. I am doing way too much work considering that it's the summer and I should be in my relaxing days.

Ok, this is TODAY'S quote.
3:18 PM
I've learned that when someone is looking sad, or says something bad happened in his or her life, never say, "What's the matter?" or "What's wrong?" Always say: "Do you want to talk about it? I'm here for you."
-- Jonathan Wong (I should REALLY learn to take my own advice.)
Yeah, didn't post yesterday because I got back too late from whever I went.

“But hey, you really enjoyed your week and you have memories that'll last a lifetime. THAT'S what's important.”

Ah well... the end of another excellent week at camp. What can I say, I'm kinda depressed that camp's over, but I'm really happy I had a chance to be a part of it. Thank god I managed to fly back from Singapore in time to catch the last two weeks. I think I speak for everyone at the Somerset Kids Camp when I say that this has been an amazing last few weeks, just being there among the people you like and care for... and having kids crawl all over you all day. Haha. Now I'm gonna be bored as hell, sitting around the house with nothing to do. But oh well, that's life.

The measure of a man’s real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
-- T.B. Macaulay
Ok, I'm actually gonna post something on this thing besides inspirational quotes. This has been an AMAZING week, especially one that started out depressing. Mostly due to camp, where I've discovered a friend in someone who was always there, ever since the beginning of TCMS, but I never got the chance to appreciate her for who she really is. Thanks for making my only full week at the Somerset Kids Camp, a week to remember!
